Cute, Current & Modest Upcycled Clothing...

I love fabrics... always have (it's my mother's fault) :).
And I have a fascination for upcycled clothing.  Allow me to share
some sweet inspiration with you today...

This one is my favorite - a skirt and shirt are combined
to make this lovely long country or prairie dress...
Available here

Love the coloring of this sweater upcycle.  A little short as a dress
for my taste - but would look cute with jeans underneath.
No longer available - but check out the shop here for similar styles.

Can someone say feminine cowgirl?  So, so sweet!
Available here

And I do believe I own this very same sweater.
So here's a great upcycle idea when I get tired of it!
No longer available - but visit shop here for similar items.

Interestingly - I own this Gap skirt as well.
Aren't the 'improvements' adorable?
Available here

And here we have a patchwork sweater tunic.
How cozy for these winter evenings!
Available here

This dress had a neckline and sleeve overhaul.  This is the 'before'...

and this is the 'after'...
Available here

And lastly, at an art show this summer I found this gal
walking around in a dress of her own design.
Ubber love!

Do these inspire you to try your own hand at a refashion?
Let me know if you do!
Or better yet - perhaps you already have.  Send me a picture!

From Immodest Maxi Dress to Modest Maxi Skirt...

One of my finds on my recent thrifting trip was a knit fabric maxi dress.
It was the sleeveless - elastic across the bust kind.  But the colors were wonderful.  In fact, as I walked around the store with it hanging on my shoulder -
several people commented that those were 'good colors' for me.
So for $5 - home it came.  I figured I could transform it into a skirt.

Step 1 - cut off the elastic top.

Step 2 - lay another maxi skirt, that fits, on top for a length estimate...
chop some more off the top of the non-elastic skirt portion.
Step 3 - sew a large running stitch all the way around the top
of the non elastic skirt portion.
(tip - I sewed 2 running stitches - one between each side seam.  This made it easier to work with.)
Pull the back thread of the running stitch to gather the fabric
till it fits into the elastic portion.  Stitch together -
with skirt inside out and right sides together.
Step 4 - The elastic portion was just too deep for my waist -
so I sewed it in half.
(folded it down and sewed it onto the seam where the elastic portion meets the bottom part.)
A new upcycled maxi skirt for me!  In great colors!
(Sorry - the colors in this photo are very off...
nighttime indoor photography at its finest.)

Thrifty Thursday Finds...

What fun...to find great stuff for little money.
  Right?
Yesterday - of all places - I found a great find at our
Pennsylvania State Farm Show.  There was a
 vendor selling beautiful Pashmina scarves...

...for just $3.99 each!  Yes!  I'll take two...

And speaking of scarves... head over to
Bramblewood Fashion's blog for a chance to win this...

Dress Refashion Complete...

As promised - I wanted to show you the vintage dress
I 'remade' in its full final glory.
It can be hard to find cute modest dresses
 - so I'm thinking - let's update the vintage ones.
Essentially - I just scooped the neckline using a shirt as a guide
and trimmed it in bias I made from the former long sleeves.
I had to add a button & make a buttonhole for the top.
And gave those sleeves a little shorten.
And of course - it is available right here....
A last peek at the 'before'...

Vintage Dress Upcycle...

Just a glimpse of what I worked on today...
This is the 'after'... (still have a button hole to add)
 This was the 'before'...
Sweet collar - but out dated...
I'll get you a 'new' full dress shot later this week.

Cute Etsy Shop...

I found the most adorable shop on Etsy and
just have to share it with you - totally unsolicited.
(I don't know them and they don't know me.)
The shop is selling cute and unique knitted
hand warmers, cuffs, aprons, etc.
But I am also in love with what else the models
are wearing....

 ...and holding...

It's just such a comfortable, casual look....
from Scotland.  What a great looking shop!
Way to go Inner Wild.
Go give a visit - you won't be sorry.

Thrifted Outfit...

My antique biz friend is a thrifter like me.
She comes up with the cutest outfits.
This is one she wore last week...
Dress was $4 and had a wide enough skirt to
layer another ruffled skirt underneath - perfect
with those cute boots.  The entire outfit is
thrifted - how fun is that?
Use a second skirt as a petticoat - love it!

I'd love to sell this phone - think anyone would want it?

True Beauty...

Do not let your adornment be merely outward...
rather let it be the hidden person of the heart,
with the incorruptible beauty
of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is very precious in the sight of God.

Feminine and Modest...

I'm a true girl and I love femininity and cute
modest fashion.  First up, some sweet winter
outfits (yes, you can be very warm in a skirt!)...

From Accordion to Kellie

 Some cute layers...

It's all in the footwear...
Gotta have cute denim skirts!
And the romantic charm of all white...

Are you convinced yet?  I could browse for
hours and post photo after photo -
but go create your own cute modest outfit
and send me a picture!
Hint - the best outfits are thrifted!
See my Pinterest Board for more
images and photo sources.

In like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest
apparel, with propriety and moderation...I Timothy 2:9a
