Found...

Just discovered this clever, simple and inexpensive idea at Better Homes and Gardens.  How cute is this- Christmas in a Jar?
While here it is shown as a lamp base - it would look equally great using a Mason jar on its own.  For the 'snow', there are many options - epsom salts, craft store snow, sugar....  Think of the possibilities!!

Christmas in the Kitchen

Time to put a little Christmas in the kitchen.  Mostly - I just decorate my long counter - with faux greens and a bit of country this and that...

The sparkling cider was a gift and was sitting on my counter already - so I just kept it...

The little rustic frame was just found for 50 cents - I added a Christmas card from last year...
And finally, real greens and a smell-good candle in my 25 cents old black tin - also just found - to sit on my kitchen table...

Our Music...

This week I was reminded that, as a Christian, every area of my life needs to be committed to the glory of God...whether it be seen or unseen.  This includes the music that I play and listen to...

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you...sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

Sightings

This local Weis Markets didn't always have a hitching post.  It does now - there are more Amish in this end of Lancaster County than ever before...

Fireplace Baubles

I love pretty - and I love thrift.  My Christmas decor is always a collection of things I have found through the years at yard sales and thrift shops for almost no money.  Our fireplace is non-working - so I fill it with white candles that I pick up for under $1.  Bonus - they put off heat!!
One of these years I'll get around to painting the fireplace...and those mittens may need to come down...
Just this week I found the mache deer for just 50 cents.

A Last Bit Of Fall...

I'm without a camera today - hubby has it while out hunting one of these:
Seen quite regularly and taken at the cabin we go to...Yes, he is in the front yard!
So in lieu of a photo of my own - let me share just a bit more Fall inspiration with you before Thanksgiving; courtesy of Pottery Barn.

Pampered...

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls"  Matt. 11:28,29  Rest is available dear friends...

Favorite Finds #2

Found some sweet treasures this week.  I'm showing you a little grouping of pink...  The cradle still plays music, the baby pillowcase would not exist in today's word, and the little shoes - well they're just too cute.
The little shoes are available here.

Instant Romance

There's nothing like lace to warm up a room.  I prefer older lace - but don't always like the price tag.  So for just a buck or two - I find old lace tablecloths, shawls, etc. that might have a bit of damage.  When  layering or draping - perfection is not necessary.  Ahhh - instant romance...
Used here to hide the backside of a cupboard behind my sofa...
And helps to soften my old piano...

Giftings...

Today, I was completely awed by the generosity of a friend.   Last week, I had a few friends for lunch - nothing special - in fact we had rice and beans...  But today, one of those dear friends wanted to show her appreciation.  She gave, yes gave, me the 60 year old treasure you see below.   I am humbled by such a gift...
And look at the crown of the beautiful veil...
This came just in time for White Wednesday at Faded Charm.

Humility

Lord - grant me a spirit of humility, for I know...

The eyes of the arrogant man will be humbled and the pride of men brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.

Favorite Finds

It's always a treat to see what treasures I unearth in a week.  This week, my favorite find was this lovely ornate mirror... isn't she pretty?  She'll be available for sale in my booth at Ziegler's In the Country.
Sorry about the tripod leg!
If you're ever in the Hershey or Lancaster County area of PA- we'd love to have you stop by.  Ziegler's is an old barn that houses beautiful, well-displayed antiques - truly!!   And you'll love strolling through the courtyard.

In addition to the barn full of antiques and collectibles, there is a gift shop - Personal Passions - that resides in an old pig barn.  You won't be disappointed!
And I'll  leave you with just a few scenes from my booth...

Cards & Letters

Sending a handwritten card or letter through the mail is such a great way to brighten someone's day.  I keep a whole basket of unused cards on hand that I've paid 25 cents or less a piece for - thanks to yard sales and thrift shops.  It is amazing the pretty cards that I find.  And if I don't have the perfect card for a certain occasion - I'm always sure to have a pretty blank card on hand to write in what I want.  It's a sweet indulgence...
And check out this amazing giveaway of 40!! pretty things over at Sassafras Stuff.  You won't want to miss this one!
