Booth Things & A Visit....

Several weeks ago, a fellow Etsy member contacted
me to find out about the antique mall where I sell.
She was wanting to come for a visit.  Today was the day!
After introductions and a quick catch up - I turned her loose in the mall.
Later I found her having a blast in this display of
vintage clothing that has newly arrived...

...and no wonder!  Her Etsy description includes this lovely statement...

"I grew up in a home filled with colorful fabrics and the constant humming of a sewing machine motor.
My mother loved to sew and could create the most beautiful and amazing things.
As a child I learned to machine sew, hand sew, quilt, embroider, and needlepoint..."

  Sounds like a delightful childhood.

(Yes, one of us is shorter than the other...)

I'll leave you with a few scenes from my booth from recent days...

What a delight to meet Susan today!
Turns out she is somewhat local so we may be able to meet again.
And that is what makes this 'online thing' so, so fun.
Have you had any special meetings lately?  ~Joyce

Booth Vignettes....

Thought I'd share some pictures from around my booth.
I'm incorporating warm tones right now since we're heading
toward fall.  This first grouping has a lot of earth tone fabrics,
a basket and a wood file box.
(I should have used a flash I guess.  Even with editing these are less than great.)
Just found those cute and old miniature flags -
so had to marry them to my patriotic bears.
And who doesn't love a great little chalkboard?
That's a pair of cake tins I'm selling in that basket.
The doll pin cushion?  Not sure how she got in there...
I have a few pinks left from the season.
This crocheted child's dress is one of my favorites.
I mix some newer things with vintage.  When I find a cute treasure
for a good price that I figure someone else will want -
I get it - even if it's newer.
(After all - in our homes - we all mix new and old every day.)
This buying and selling thing is just way too much fun!

Happy Booth Clutter...

Today's Photo A Day theme:
'makes you happy'.  I could say a lot
of things - but for the sake of this post -
let's say - 'happiness is playing in my booth'.
My goal is to have a happy mix of vintage
clutter that somehow all flows together.  A booth
that entices the shopper to step inside 'cause
they might miss something if they don't.
A space that says, 'now this booth looks
interesting, there's bound to be a find in here'...
And of course - I try to keep the current
season in mind...
It's such fun for me to rearrange my
booth - it's therapy really.
Come visit me at Ziegler's In The Country.

Framing Frames...

Frames make great 'frames' to showcase another picture
or object.  Leave them plain - with no glass or interior.
I have a vintage frame for sale right now in my
booth space - and this is it's current arrangement...

You can pick up old frames at thrift shops.
The options are endless...

Scenes From Country Living Fair...

We just returned the Country Living Fair.  And let me just say -
it is by far the best such event I have ever attended and I highly recommend it.  It was huge and I came away very inspired.
For now, here are a few general scenes from the many booths...
This gal was selling pumpkins of every description.
I just loved her displays.

Lots of linens and alphabet letters of all types in this booth.

Poor gal was doing this so much her fingers started to bleed.

The Country Living 'Kitchen' where various demonstrations took place.
Yepper - I would go back!  Might wait a few years -
but it was awesome!
If you love antiquing, flea markets or just getting ideas
for projects - this fair's for you.
(Warning - Saturday was unbelievably packed with people!)

Getting Ready For a Porch Sale...

The past couple of days I've been preparing for a porch sale.
I'll be selling lots of old inventory, household goods
and more at blow-out prices.  So that means some rearranges
were needed in my booth space...

This Saturday is the day and our cottage in
Mt. Gretna, PA is the place...
Our cottage on 7th Street
There is also a Tour of Homes going on this day on the
cottage grounds - Aug. 6th  Check it out here.
I'd love to meet you - come stop by!

Just a Few More...

Here are a few more inspiring booth shots from
Ironstone in a box w/ shredding
Sheet music bundles of lavender.
Actually, sheet music tied around anything looks good!

Love this idea - stuff some kid's jeans with
dried florals for door and more decor.
Patriotic display with red, white and blue
And last, but not least, I met Peggy - the owner of the
Sweet Granny's Country Store booth.
This gal has tireless energy - 3 booths - drives an hour
every day to update them - and has scores
of one-of-a-kind crafts among her antiques.
Some of her ideas...
Half-a-can planter
I am so inspired after this visit!  They had booth space available,
but at 2 hours away - just not sure it would be worth it.
Anyone else do a booth that far away from home?
Check out some great ideas over at
Tuesday's Treasures
