Our Simple Easter Dinner...

Our small family had our Easter dinner a few weeks ago.
My starting point is often these sweet tulip dishes.  I purchased them
to resell years ago - trusting the seller who told me they were in
perfect condition.  Turns out they were not - so I kept them and
have enjoyed using them for Spring events.

A quick stop at Dollar Tree yielded some faux wild flowers which I cut
and divided into little bouquets.  I later added water to help the illusion...

The pink polka dot fabric is actually an old feedsack that has a lot
of damage.  But folded this way - it looks complete and fine.
And gotta have candles; even if just a few votives on overturned sherberts.

And since lavender and pink seemed to be the colors.... this candle
from my stash on a small pedestal will do.  I try to keep
centerpieces low.  If too high - table conversation is awkward.
It's no fun to dodge table decor to see who you're talking to.

I trust this coming Easter Sunday will be a special day for you.
In the life of the Believer - it is everything!  Without the
resurrection of Jesus - there would be no hope for an eternity with Him.
If you've not abandoned your life to live His way- this week
would be a good time to do so.  Would love to have you in the Family!

The Making of My Spring Mantel...

Since Valentine's Day is over - and that's what was on my mantel -
it was time for a little change up....

I started with the spray of forsythia cause it was the most spring thing
I had nearby and then added the twig chair cause it was nearby too.
(See how my mind works?)

For a few more rustic elements - I added the twig wreath and egg candle ring.

Since the eggs were green/blue...
I shopped my house for anything else that color.

The candle was about all I could find.  But it's enough!
Some ribbons to the wreath (I've always plenty of ribbons)  and a yellow
creamer (cause I had precious little else that was yellow) help complete the look.

Happy Spring!   ~Joyce

Empty Tomb On My Easter Mantel...

Better late than never - I've reworked my mantel to offer a taste
of Spring and Easter.  And look what happened...

...a version of the empty tomb appeared!  (yes, that's a birdhouse...)
I wasn't planning to use it this way - it just sort of happened.
But it works I think - and what a great reminder that Jesus lives!
The twig wreath is a reminder of the crown of thorns Jesus wore for me.
And purple?  It's the color of royalty - for My King Jesus.

The bibles hold the Easter story - from beginning to end -
and were once lovingly held and read by my parents.
Paging through them brings tears, smiles and all sorts of emotions
as I read their notes and verses that shaped their lives.
How very blessed I am to have had this Godly heritage.

May yours be a blessed Easter.  And if Jesus is not the King of your life -
please consider inviting him to that role this season.
I promise, there is no better Ruler and no better Kingdom to join.

Old Tool Box as Wall Shelf...

I've had this old tool box for years... but it's white paint wasn't working.

I stumbled upon this cutey at the Budget Decorator...

...and decided my white had to go.  I didn't do any distressing this time.
These things distress themselves pretty quickly when used.
Boy do I wish I had better lighting to bring out the proper teal.
If it doesn't sell - I can always go back and distress it.
For now it makes the Easter goods in my booth pop and
serves as a safe place for my real eggs (in the Spanish moss nest.)
Would love to see someone buy this for a wall shelf though!
Happy Spring - in teal!

Unique Vintage Easter Finds on Etsy...

I went on a search to see what I could find that is
somewhat unique in the vintage Easter category.
(Because after a while - it can all look the same.)
Here are some of my findings per Etsy...
(Click on the captions to go to the listing.)

Love this little cutey with his Easter toys...

Easter hats are common enough - but how about some Easter shoes?

Gurley makes lots of figural candles - but these little ducks are made by Tavern.

Wouldn't this egg lithograph make an amazing piece of wall art?

Here's a sweet vintage Annalee toy - never used!

How about a photo of a military Easter church service?

Does a magazine ad from 1943 for Easter Candy do anything for you?

I thought this vintage Easter card was especially cute...

It's hard to find good looking Easter candy containers - but this one is!

Last Ditch Effort Easter Vignettes...

Easter goods are selling fast at the thrift shop where I volunteer.
In a desperate search for some goods to create a few
last minute vignettes - I used gift bags, tote bags...
...plastic eggs (there's always some of those left),
spring colored books and a teddy bear.  In pastel coloring -
it's the 'new' bunny.  (smile!)

I'm thinking till next week I might have to forego Easter in my
vignettes altogether.  Just not enough good lookin' stuff left.
But we shall see.   (The challenge is half the fun!)

Spring Vignettes and Groupings...

Enjoy a few of the thrift shop displays I created this week...
from goods already sprinkled throughout the store...
This yellow and lavender one is the most traditionally
spring by far.  Our spring things have already been out
for a number of weeks - so 'true' spring items are harder to find.
We have a number of country looking bunnies that get donated...
so I tried to create a little county Easter vignette.
I would have preferred a different green -
but these big leaves were all I could find.
For the men's rack - I included some baseballs.
Love their red stitching!

Half the fun of shopping at thrift and antique stores for me
is seeing how the displays are put together.
Many times - there just aren't any....a sad day.

I'm happy to announce that 'our' thrift shop has lots of them!
This bridal display created by another gal - I just do the dress racks.
Come visit!

Spring Door Decor....

In lieu of a spring wreath - I threw together a little
wall basket for my front door...

As is often my style - I looked at what was laying around me and used it.
I had just picked up the faux forsythia and a marble egg
at a thrift shop for very little monies.  I was going to attach them
to a grapevine wreath - but then noticed this little
wall basket that wasn't currently in use.  Why not?
A few bends of the floral picks and some Spanish moss later -
and my door is adorned for Spring.

Can you believe - it snowed all day today?...
but it didn't lay - so it's all good.

A Friend For Breakfast (& Thrifty Tip)...

I had a dear friend for breakfast today so I got out my 'spring' dishes...
...and a few spring things...

We had a delightful morning together...
Faux Spanish moss makes a quick nest. Raffia does too...
I picked up the chick yesterday at a thrift shop for $1
and the faux flowers for 35 cents a stem.

Thrifty Thursday Tip:
Watch for holiday and seasonal things at yard sales
and in auction box lots - buy & put them aside for later.
You will pay more - even at thrift shops - 'in season'.
At a yard sale - the chick may have been only 25 cents
and the flowers; maybe $1 for the whole bunch.
In an auction box lot?  Price may have been almost 'free'!

Nests and Zippers...

I found a couple of cute projects today in blog
land that link to my li'l ol' blog as their inspiration.  What an honor!   Inspired from my last year's
spring and Easter flower pot project...
Tales Of a Trophy Wife created these cuties...
And I once made a few metal zipper flowers...
...and The Olde Farmhouse on Windmill followed suit.  Except hers are even better and come with a great sweater pillow tutorial...
I'm tellin' ya - the inspiration just never ends.
I'm lovin' this blogging thing!

The Start Of a Spring Porch...

Our weather is unseasonably warm.  Too warm for the winter decor I have on my front porch.  So with about 45 of time - I started a redo...
I picked up these twig balls for next to nothing
the other week - they'll work for filler for now.
As will the pastel poppies ...
At least it's a step in the right direction from
what it was...

My 'Welcome' slate is missing it's bottom corner -
but tucked into the flowers you can't tell.
Just couldn't bear to trash that sweet
hummingbird painting.
This is the other side of my door -
awaiting more plants...
...when it warms up a bit more.

Pretty Silver Basket...

I just had to show you this pretty basket I found
this week.  I love it with the ceramic robin's
eggs and white paper 'straw'...

It's a nice change from the traditional Easter basket!
