Valentine Vignette Phase II...

Here is my quick fix for my table top decor for Lover's Day...
Remember in my previous post, I needed to replace
the lovely heart box because I sold it...
As I walked around my house - I noticed a pretty roses cover book.  This is actually a Christmas book from Victoria
but with the cover of roses - no one will know the difference.
Just shows, it's all about color...
Notice the addition of heart candies - and they're almost gone already!

Warning & Promise...

At that time many will turn away from the faith ...
Because of the increase of wickedness,
the love of most will grow cold,
but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Matt. 24:10,12,13

Pheasant Feathers and Snow...

In the antique mall where I sell (Ziegler's In the Country), one of the gals did some redecorating in her booth.  I was inspired by her use of pheasant feathers...
Yesterday while I was working at the mall, it was snowing.  I had to take a few pictures.  This old house was actually moved to the grounds by truck.  It's currently used as storage - but had been an adorable cafe` a few years ago.
In addition to the antique mall - there is a sweet gift shop (Personal Passions).  One of the show windows...
That poor cherub looks cold...

Valentine Vignette Phase I...

I do little seasonal vignettes on the edge of my dining room table which normally sits empty till we have guests over.
It's really just in our family room - no special 'dining room' for us.
This is my current vignette...
Who says you can't use white flower pots in the winter?
My only purchase was the heart candle for 99 cents.  Otherwise, everything was 'on hand' or waiting to sell.  Since the heart candy box just sold - I'll be needing to revise this vignette... Stay tuned!

From Old Sweaters...

It's hard for me to throw out good fabric.  In my current 'cleaning out' mode - I had a sweater that wasn't even fit to donate.  After being inspired from various online sites - I decided to try my hand at making mittens.  Found me some directions and went from there.  Took longer than I hoped - first pair did not get so good. :)
Have you made anything from old sweaters?

My Soul Longeth...

How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Psalms 84:1-2
Yesterday, I quickly added the sheet music and vintage paper rose to this sweet cherub frame.  It connects with the above verse which sums up my heart well today.
I am home sick with the flu - no church for me.
And my soul longeth for a church of like-minded believers.
(Long story- but God knows all about it.)
My heart cries for the living God!

Favorite Finds...

It's always a treat to see what treasures I unearth in a week.
This week, I added two sweet baby pillowcases to my stash.
Aren't they honeys?
Just look at the detail...

Two of these are available here.
(That is a letter 'L' Monogram on the ruffled case.)

Last Minute Gift...

I needed to be heading out the door... I would be returning a jar that someone gave me with delicious home canned peaches from her own tree.  Whenever I return a dish - I like to fill it with something.  So what to fill that jar with?  I had no suitable food - so I quickly searched my gift drawer... Ahh, those little garage sale find Yankee candles will fit.  Add a few sprigs of green and tiny pinecones, some ric rac and a gift tag and we'll call it done...
Wish I would have had time to add a burlap top.
That's what I get for being 'last minute'.

Red and White...

At the thrift shop where I volunteer - I put together some Valentine vignettes on top of the dress racks.  We didn't have much 'extra' Valentine merchandise - so I tried to make them look season appropriate in other ways... Every item I use is 'for sale'...
Love that button necklace - so many decor possibilities...

I did one 'countrified' version among the otherwise
romantic scenes...
This card was adorable - would make a great stamping project.
Those pillows are vintage in wonderful red corduroy!
Lace, candles, cut glass and cherubs...Cost of 1 milk glass candle holder with candle? 35 cents!
And I haven't even done any Valentine decorating at home yet!

Cottage Kitchens...

I know you ladies in blogland have a wealth of inspiration photos stored up - so I'm soliciting your help.  I'm searching for photos of kitchens that use vintage furniture pieces for storage instead of all just wall to wall cabinets.  Something just a bit 'different'.  If you have suggestions - pass them along!

Separate...

"Therefore come out from them and be separate,  says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."
2 Cor. 6:17
Thought it odd when I found this lonely leaf on the snow - a green leaf, now?

Displaying Wares...

As a booth holder in a local antique mall - it's always fun to see what other vendors do with their booths.  Yesterday I ventured to The Olde Factory in Hummelstown, PA.  It is a 3 story antique, craft and junque mall.  What fun!  Enjoy the show...

These first 2 images are from Nancy's booth - my fav. in the shop!

Fun old window ideas...

Love me some grain sacks...
Too cute - a vintage child's frig. for displaying magnets.

Keeping like-items together makes a statement...
And how romantic is this lamp shade frame turned ceiling decor...
