Vignettes With a Touch of Fall...

Did my weekly trek to the thrift shop where I worked on dress rack
displays again.   These are a few from today's styling...

This first one was by far my favorite - but looks pretty 'orange'
in the photo.  In real life - twas looking good.  See that burlap bag?
It is a handmade craft show item w/ the original price tag in place -
over $18.  Thrift store price?  $2!  Was super cute and not sure why
I didn't bring it home.  And the plaid throw was only $3 or so.
Loved it too... but I'm on a mission to declutter...

This is the back side of above scene... just using whatever
could find that fit the color scheme.

This one photographed the best I think... but is not selling.
This is the dress rack display that often doesn't sell well.
It is a tad too high to reach easily!  (At least for shorter people).
But look at that texture - those are pillow sham covers.  Love 'em!

Just a bunch of this and that - leftovers from previous displays, etc.
The gift wrapped package?  It's really a magazine!

I found these old aluminum pots that weren't being highlighted well.
Now that they're in a display (1 on the back too which you can't see) -
can't wait to see if they move right out.

I feel like I spend so much of my days 'rushing' right now.  Haven't
figured out quite how to lessen that.  (And I need to - it's not healthy).
But I love doing these displays and try to to let them evolve at leisure.
Toward the end I often have to rush again (due to the schedule of my day)...
but they fill my love-tank for some reason.  And that's a good thing!

Thanks for joining me and hope you are enjoying -
and not rushing thru - each day that God has granted!  ~Joyce

Vignettes...

Haven't shared my thrift shop displays with you for a while.
So here are some from today...

First up - this would be an ice bucket turned 'planter'..

I only do one men's rack display...

This display has been the same for several weeks so I'll need to change it soon.
It sits on a tall dress rack and things don't sell well off of it.
(Helps to keep me humble!)

This one is very simple and started with the book.

Pitchers - looking pretty all in a group!

And lastly... this display is in honor of a dear volunteer that died
unexpectedly Sunday night.  She priced our hats, hankies and scarves.

I think she would have approved as she always encouraged me
when I worked on displays.  I will miss you Doris!   ~Joyce

4 Vignettes...

For my Saturday Sightings - I'm cheating a bit from my usual and
sharing some vignettes that I worked on today.  These are all
on top of dress racks at the thrift shop where I volunteer.

My challenge for this first one was the tall bouquet that was already in the space.   I lieu of many decor things that worked -
I brought in books... we always have plenty of those.
The scarf in pastels really helped tie things together...

Challenge #2 was the large tin biscuit box on its side in the back.
I found it 'displayed' on the floor in another room.  I like to keep
things off the floor if I can - so I scooped it up.
I love this grouping - my fav of the day...

Challenge #3:  After about 3 weeks - that tall iron candle holder is still here.
I decided to keep it in a dress rack grouping and surely hope it
sells this week as the options to go with it are getting slim.

And lastly - there was one more large biscuit tin to use.
This one has a whole different color scheme; not very 'springy' but still neat!

I worked on many more small groupings... but these photographed the best.
I often feel I don't do much for the Lord - but this little weekly
decorating helps sell goods that benefit those in need overseas.
I'm most thankful for the opportunity!  ~Joyce

Spring Vignettes in Coral...

My thrift shop displays this week included a lot of coral.  Why?
Because I started with this sweet blouse and then kept going.
I'm discovering that I'm liking a bit of boho flavor more and more...

The backside of the above grouping...

I didn't have as many coral options as I would have liked -
so I went to gift bags.  I found the one sticking out of the
aqua gift bag - but it was too big when opened up.
So this 'peek-a-boo' effect was my solution to make it work...

You'll recognize the picture frame filler as being used in the
vignette 2 pictures up.    I think 'filled' frames sell better!

And by the time I got to this display - I had almost no coral left.
The 'shelf' is really a drawer organizer flipped on its side.

This mirror canister set was leftover from the previous week.
I attempted to make it 'spring-like' too.
Sorry - I didn't have time to rephotograph - so there is flash-out.

Have you any coral in your wardrobe or home?
Pull it out and enjoy!  ~Joyce

Spring and Easter Vignettes...

I have brought Spring to the dress racks at the thrift shop where
I volunteer.  This is a sampling of today's displays...

As always - working with what I can find that isn't already
in a display somewhere (I just shop the store!)

Was running out of options by the time I got to this one.
Spring is such a happy time!
And in the middle of February - we're having spring-like weather.
  It won't last - but it's kinda fun!  ~Joyce

Organic and Valentine Vignettes...

Just a few of my thrift shop dress-rack displays for you again today.

I've been in an 'organic' groove.... greens, woods and natural elements.
Here I started with that gigantic clear glass candle holder.
The shop struggled to find space for it - so I offered it
dress-rack space  so it can have a home till it sells.

Just a close up...Aren't those teeny jars sweet?

And the back side of the above grouping...

Two racks down - another somewhat 'organic' display...
Love bottles with wooden corks - they should sell fast.
The twig wreaths in both displays sold immediately.

Most of the Valentine things are already in a display in the shop...
so I tried to get creative with what I could find to have
something that felt like Valentine's on the center rack...

I think it works...
(Although you can see the backside here which probably looks weird)
I do a total of 6 rack displays... only shared 3 with you here.
And if you're ever in the area - stop in and shop!
Thanks for joining me!  ~Joyce

Christmas Vignettes - Winter Scarves, Boots...

It was 'thrift shop day' for me.  So I'm sharing a few of the
simple dress rack displays I worked on.

This first one had the hat and scarf sell pretty quickly
(I had replacements to fill in)...

And here is the back side
(cause I found those candle holders and wanted to use them somewhere)...

This one had a canister left over from last week - so I added to it...

...and here's the other side of that same display
(you can see the back of the previous book)...

This display (the tree and sled) just isn't selling.
I think they are priced too high.  But after 4 weeks they will be
half price (per colored tags) - so that should get 'em sold.

And here are 2 sides of another display. Side 1...

Side 2...

Thanks for  joining me today friends.  Stay warm!  ~Joyce

Christmas Vignettes - Books!...

It was thrift shop day for me again today... meaning I got to play on top
of the dress racks.  (OK - I didn't literally climb up there - but you know what I mean right?)
Here is a glimpse of today's displays...

Tis the season to pull out vintage books with seasonal coloring.
This children's book is not a Christmas story per se - but the
 coloring is perfect nonetheless!

I found this lion figurine and decided to incorporate it into
a grouping.  Doesn't he look stately with the red berries?

And since Jesus is our Lion of Judah - he fits Christmas perfectly...

The men's rack had some things left over from last week's display
(pillow, package ornaments, pretty book) -
so I just added to them to fill it out...

And this one got a bit 'glitzy'...

Almost too much going on here - but as soon as something sells
from it - it will be a little less 'cluttery'.

What a busy and enjoyable time of year.
Don't get caught up in the hustle and bustle!  (I'm reminding myself)...
But spend time each day with Jesus and allow His peace
to rule in your heart.  ~Joyce

A Thanksgiving Vignette...

At the thrift shop - we are well into Christmas
as is common in the retail world.
To serve my conscience and give the proper nod to Thanksgiving -
I opted to do at least 1 display today for the special holiday.
But when I scoured the shop for themed items to use -
I could only find this one ceramic pilgrim couple...

So I worked with them best I could and was really happy with the result...

The rest of the displays I worked on were Christmas
but I didn't get photos except for this one...

Within minutes of completing the Thanksgiving grouping - guess what sold?
Yep - the little ceramic couple!
So now the display may not look much like Thanksgiving after all...
Hopefully we all express  some Thanksgiving every day anyway -
holiday or not.
And have I mentioned lately that I am so thankful for you?
Thanks readers!  ~Joyce

Displays... Cookbooks, an Owl and Oriental...

Just sharing some of the displays I put together from donated goods
at the thrift shop this week.  These are on top of dress racks -
so pardon the lack of back drop, etc.  Interestingly - the one that
photographs the best - I did not like as well in real life.
And that would be this one...

I love to use books to give height.  And anywhere I can throw in
some vintage - I do!  So the vintage bowl is on some contemporary cookbooks.
Since the spines are all in the same color scheme that coordinates
with the remainder of the grouping - they work!

Below was my favorite 'real life' display... but it falls a little flat
when photographed I think.  Perhaps it needs something spilling
out of that awesome vase.   At any rate - it's essentially gray, black and aqua.
Love it!  Any guesses as to what the first thing was that sold
out of this grouping?

And a 3rd display from the week has an oriental flavor.  The
chest or box was my starting point and I tried to find things
to go with it.... not an easy task in this Pa dutch area.

Now back to my question...
did you guess what sold first out of this display?
Did you guess the owl?
Nope - not the owl (although everybody loved him!)
Can you see what's missing in this photo?  Its the long pillow
that was behind the sign.  It lasted only an hour or so once in the
display - although had been in the store for sale for 2 days!

Gotta love playing with other people's stuff!   ~Joyce
