A patched together lifestyle of thrift and charm...

More Christmas Decor (Farmhouse Style)...

Today - I'm showing you some of my more prim and country decor...

The pinwheel acts as a 'shade' for a mini light.

 A floor basket...
This rustic wood yard sale frame is holding a favorite
Christmas card image - but is missing an easel back....

so I leaned it against another picture - problem solved!

It's the simplest combos that have the most impact.
Here - a vintage laundry basket filled with garland
and large Dollar Tree ornaments - that's it!
(I may add some lights yet..)
Did you  notice my sheet music pinwheels scattered here and there?

Fireplace Garland...

Some of my sheet music pinwheels landed beneath my mantel...

They help break up that big expanse of brick.
I simply stretched out a gold ribbon...
...and hung them with clothespins.   Quick and easy!
I'll show you tomorrow where I used the rest of the pinwheels.

White & Gold Christmas Decor...

Making some headway in the indoor Christmas decor...

I decided to go with whites and golds on my mantel to help
combat the dark (and very dated) panelling behind it...

And since I liked that look - how 'bout a little more...

As for my 'stuff' - if I like it - and it's very inexpensive -
I pick it up (go yard sales & thrift shops).  Eventually - it all goes together
and it's fun to 'play' and figure out how to use it each year.

Trees on the Porch...

I'm waist deep into decorating for Christmas.
Looking too messy to show you photos quite yet
(plus it's early in the morning and my photos would look lousy.)
I'm working on the inside now... but my plan for the front porch?...
Source
...artificial trees!  We have several that were given us (generous neighbors!)
that are just too big for our home.  So with some bricks to hold
them down - I'm thinking to the front porch they will go.
After all - we have them - might as well use them!
(use what you have remember?)

Now This is How to Make the Perfect Bow...

I found this wonderful youtube video for making a package bow.
This is the perfect bow (in my humble opinion) and
can be used for wreaths, swags or whatever.
I've essentially been making this - but she has a few
details and tips that I was missing.

Beautiful wasn't it?
(if you can't get the videos to play - click on the title at the top of each video)

And here's another one - more close-up...

Enjoy!!

Moving Day...

So today - my mommy - moved to heaven...
photo - compliments of my niece
As the Lord ordained - my daughter (on the left) and niece (right)
were the only 2 of our family with her this morning during her 'move'.
We've all had a precious couple of days together saying goodbye...
Almeda 1921-2012 (age 91 years!)
...but life will be different - very different.
It's a wonderful thing to have had a beautiful Godly mother.
I'm forever grateful!

Sheet Music Craftin....

One thing I got - and that's vintage sheet music.
Time to whip up some paper Christmas projects...
Clothespins are a crafter's wood clamps!
I'm working on it - all over my kitchen table...
Note my jar of old white buttons - always gotta have those!
Note sure where all this mess will end up - but it's a start.

The Wolf Will Live With the Lamb...

Wanted to share a sweet video from a friend with you.
It is of her sweet parakeet Pete - and their boxer dog.
But all I could 'copy' was this image.  Just picture the bird talking
the whole time to the dog in a sweet sing, song voice.

Reminds me of this beautiful portion of scripture
from Isaiah 11 of a time yet to come...
The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
The infant will play near the cobra’s den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.
They will neither harm nor destroy
    on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.

Quick Junk Mail Project...

So now I'm making projects from my junk mail?
(This project was a 'fail'....  The edges curled up - needs more tweaking!)
This advertising magnet was in my mail the other day.
I hesitated to toss it (yep - it's a sickness) - but it was ugly
and not something I wanted to look at on my fridge.
Perhaps I could make it more interesting...
I took a vintage calendar image and decoupaged it to the front.
That's it...
Love those ladies ice skating in skirts!
It's not perfect... You can see the lettering underneath if you look close.
(I should have blacked that out.)
And a black frame around the whole thing would make it 'pop'.
But it has possibilities and now I know for next time!

Just Listed - Paper Ephemera Bundles...

In this age of scrapbooking, altered art and mixed media -
what is more fun that piles of vintage paper ephemera.
So today I packaged several bundles of old booklets,
papers, photos and more and listed them in my Etsy shop.

There is a farm and agriculture related grouping...
...a pile of old advertising with neat graphics...
a bundle of infant and home related booklets and photos...
 ...and a history themed pack.
How do you use old paper?

Free Fall Online Magazine...

I'm sharing a beautiful free EMagazine with you today...
from Post Road Vintage.  This gal is amazing...
She's only married 8 years (with children no less!) -
has a beautiful online shop of handmade goods (neat, neat stuff) -
learned to make beautiful soaps - puts together delightful
videos and magazines and offers them for free - cooks homemade...
and keeps growing her business.   I'm just blown away.
(I struggle to get a few things listed in my Etsy shop in a week...)

But my favorite thing?  ....her photos!  Love them...
just simple, straight forward inspiration everywhere....
See what I mean?  I just Pinned this one this morning.
Gotta love her!  (and nope - she doesn't even know I'm saying this...)
Thanks Heather!

Easy Peasy Sheet Music Project...

Have some books that are less than desirable to look at?
Or maybe you just want a little sheet music love in your rooms.
It took me about 15 minutes to cover
these hymn books on my piano...
Thanks Pinterest for the sheet music book cover inspiration!
Goofus glass is from my mother.  I found the larger dish at a yard sale this year for 50 cents!
