Making Paper...

While at the Country Living Fair last fall,
I splurged and bought a paper making kit from
Paper Alice.  There are plenty of instructions
online for making your own kit, but I wasn't get-
ting it done.  So I spent the big bucks and look...
 glorious textured handmade paper...
...literally made from junk paper scraps from
my trash can.  How's that for recycling?
I haven't tried printing on it yet - I'll let you know how that goes.

A Flowing Brook...

The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters;
The wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook.
Proverbs 18:4
Taken by My Love in the mountains last weekend.
Lord, let what comes from my mouth be good
and not folly - a wellspring of life.

A Rose Box and Other Thrifted Treasures...

Just sharing some recent finds with you -
all from thrifting.  This sweet rose topped
cedar treasure box was destined for rejection
by the thrift shop I volunteer at -
I scooped it up!
Other recent finds include these sweet little moccasins (great winter decor), a pair of corbel shelves, antique pin keeper and a great woven red stripe runner (in the background) that I'll use for 'who  knows what'.  My counsel? Buy what you
love and you'll figure out a way to use it.
The most I paid for anything was $3 for the moccasins!

Delivering A Meal...

My brother is having a difficult health time
right now.  This morning I quickly made a bit of
food to help out (less cooking for his wife).
Since they love antiques and live in an authentic
log house - I packaged the items accordingly.
Freshly made Hearty Pork Rice Soup (because
my bro. doesn't like chicken) went into some
blue Mason jars...
Made a double batch so we can have some too.
Freshly made potato salad (his special request)
went into a vintage blue enamel dish...
Those are donut holes and chocolate candy on top.

With a vintage towel lining a old market basket -
it was a cute, if quick, delivery for today.
I added an inspirational post card and will try
to take them more goodies from time to time.
It doesn't take much to show a little
love and care.

Feminine and Modest...

I'm a true girl and I love femininity and cute
modest fashion.  First up, some sweet winter
outfits (yes, you can be very warm in a skirt!)...

From Accordion to Kellie

 Some cute layers...

It's all in the footwear...
Gotta have cute denim skirts!
And the romantic charm of all white...

Are you convinced yet?  I could browse for
hours and post photo after photo -
but go create your own cute modest outfit
and send me a picture!
Hint - the best outfits are thrifted!
See my Pinterest Board for more
images and photo sources.

apparel, with propriety and moderation...I Timothy 2:9a

Sideways Inspiration...

Just a few ideas from Better Homes and Gardens website for you today.  It intrigues me how things
can be transformed just by putting them into a different position.  For example, a little cupboard, turned sideways, becomes a side table with
hidden storage...
And who hasn't seen these less than attractive vintage desks at yard sales...
Turn them upside down and they can have a
new life too.  Here one is holding a simple
wood planter box.  I think I'd go for different
coloring & accents, but you get the idea...
And lastly, just because I like it - another neat
idea for an old window or door.  Add some cork
for a bulletin board!  And actually,
come to think of it, you could turn this sideways
too for whatever fits your room the best...

Making a Candle...

For a while, I've been saving candle scraps to
make into a 'new' candle.  Today was the day...
I started with a jar candle that had just a bit of candle remaining in the bottom.  I sat it in a pan
of water and heated it on the stove.  I had some
other broken candle wax on hand and a
vintage chipped china creamer to use as my
new candle holder.  Here it is holding a new
candle wick (my only purchase)...
As the red wax began to melt - I added more wax
(the white scraps that I also had on hand.)
Eventually, everything melted in this jar -
but it took a while.  Amazingly - any black soot
tends to go to the bottom - so that is a help.
It was fairly easy to pour the melted wax into
the  creamer with the wick already in it.
I was hoping for a pink candle from the
red and white combo...
Excuse the blur!
And that is what I got.  This will make a nice
addition to my gift drawer for future giving...
PS - A strainer would have been nice and I do recommend using a pan 'just for candle making'.
Just the slightest bit of wax into the water
makes quite a mess... yep, you guessed it...

Winter Fun...

Sorry for the absence.  This weekend,
I, my Love, and a group of 24 had fun
in the snow filled mountains...
This would be 'I'...

This would be 'My Love'.
Thanks to our friends for hosting us at
their wonderful cabin...

A Baptizing...

Found this video clip this morning and just had
to share it.  Love this song and wanted to play
it at my own daughter's Believer's Baptism -
but wasn't able to.  And I love how Hollywood depicted the ladies with covered heads
appropriate to biblical teaching.  It blessed my
heart - I hope it does yours...

Reshaping Vintage Hats...

Did you know you can reshape old hats for
better display?  This hat was flattened and
not looking so good...
To reshape - place the crown of the hat over
a canister or jar with similar proportions.
Then spray it a bit with water.  When it dries - it
may be stiff - but it will hold its new shape...
I just listed both of these vintage millinery hats

Crates and Wooden Boxes...

I have several old wooden boxes that I use for
storage or side tables throughout our home.
These 2 stack together to store CD's and
magazines. They make a nice plant stand too...

 Gotta love the old graphics...

Valentine Thrift Store Displays...

I tried to put together some displays at the
thrift shop for Valentine's Day without using
a lot of obvious 'valentine' pieces.
I like this first pink vignette...
The other 2 red vignettes are just 'ok'.  But I
am liking milk glass for a valentine grouping...
Those milk glass candlesticks are just $1.50/pair!

It's amazing the mood color alone can create.

Love For One Another...

"By this all will know that you are My disciples,
if you have love for one another."
John 13:35
I caught these 2 hugging at the thrift shop where I volunteer.

To Love someone - does not mean you agree
with every aspect of their life.  But it does mean,
as God provides opportunity, you can share Truth
with gentleness and from a loving heart.

Blue Mason Jars...

My Love brought me flowers yesterday.
They are just a simple bouquet from the grocery store.  But in a blue Mason jar - they are fabulous!

Thank you Honey!
And the cute votive?  I just picked it
up last night for Free!  It's the
perfect accent to the Mason jar blue.
