A Special Family Memento Yard Sale Find...

Every once in a while when I'm out thrifting or yard saling -
I find a particularly great item.... great because it has personal meaning
in some way.  This post is about one of those finds.

One day a number of years ago I spotted these 3 school photos
on a table at a yard sale - yep just a typical yard sale.
I instantly recognized them because I grew up having seen them.
They are from the one room schoolhouse that my mother attended.
(We still live in the area where she grew up - haven't strayed too far from home!)
And sure enough - she is in each picture.

What a precious, precious find!  I'm sure I didn't pay more than
$1 a piece for them...they are of course worth much more to me.
I recently found this fabulous frame that fits one of
 these odd sized (10 x 12) photos...

Up in my new living room it goes.
Hello Mommy!  (She's the 2nd one from the left - front row.)

I LOVE this story!! My "family find" wasn't an heirloom exactly, but it was a treasure nonetheless! One day at a local thrift store I found a very pretty ceramic vase painted a lovely shade of blue. I really liked it, but was hesitant to buy it because I didn't neeeeed it. Finally bought it anyway (it was speaking to me! LOL) and when I showed it to my in-laws, my FIL said it looked like the one my MIL had painted for her sister several years ago. Betty said well if it was the one I painted it would have my initials on the bottom - and sure enough, there they were! Her sister had passed away, and apparently her kids had donated some of her items to this very thrift store. I felt so luck to have found it, and of course it has become a favorite treasure! Congrats on finding your special photos - hope you find a couple more frames soon!

Oh my gosh I could not close my mouth. Now this is the best find ever and your mother was super cute. I really enjoyed this inspirational post. I would love it if you would share this post at our WIW linky party? Hope to see you there!
