$1 Backyard Transformation...

I've had this old picket snow fence for several
years now. The original plan was to sell it -
but I just wasn't finding space in my booth.
Turns out - that was a good thing!
Saturday - my Love and I - finally took the time
to add it our backyard.  It creates a nice barrier
to the wooded property we border.
Yes - I paid $1 for it at a yard sale.
We already had the flower beds in place - but
they looked a little lame.  The plants are all free perennials that I've divided from other plants over
the years.  The rocks were where the fence is
now - but weren't 'working' that great.
Said rocks were 'free' - gathered from my sister's
rock pile from when they dig rocks out of their
farm fields for planting.
Moving the rocks to the foreground seems to
'work' better...
The fence didn't span the width of the whole
garden - so I used some of the rocks to create
a little path where the fence ends.  It's an easy
access to the compost pile in the back.

Here's a shot from a recent post of the same
area 'before'.  But this looks really bad 'cause
the flowers aren't up yet.
I'm just loving my new back yard!

Only $1.00??!! That's quite a deal and it looks great! I love the rocks bordering the front of the garden too!

Oh my goodness, I LOVE the garden you've created with that charming fencing and the rocks. Using rocks is a great way to define a garden.

It looks beautiful Joyce! I love the fence. I have a hard time with my garden as well, it backs up into the woods like yours, last year I planted some type of pine trees to kind of break it up a bit and I have rocks that line the front as well. :)

Your fence look very nice! I've added some fence behind some of my garden and it really makes it looked finished. Warm hugs, Esther

Love the fence. It is a great cottage-y backdrop and a bargain to boot.
