Weekend Finds...

Just had to share some of the goodness I picked up
at the village sales over the weekend.
This is what I had time to photograph.
Vintage red always makes a great statement.
Again I am struck by how my finds seem to
blend together in an instant vignette.
There is great coloring to these feedsacks.
Many of these finds are available here and here.
Those old sleds (by the pole) were going for about $15.
I needed to stick to 'smalls' this time, so I left them there.
But they had a great look!
Till next year little village!

Faith = Courage...

Love this!  I've been told plenty of times that I'm a 'control freak'.
Perhaps more of you can relate.
But I also proclaim that my life belongs to Jesus.
So - it's time... time to Pray...and Let Go.
Let Go of what I can't control and trust that Jesus - while perhaps not in my timing,
will guide and watch and work perfectly.

Village Sales & 'Private' Garden Tour....

Sometimes unexpected good things just happen.
Today was such a day.  I did the annual yard sales in a nearby village.
This is a true village...along an old country road...lined with old homes.
I was having a good time snapping pictures of some of my favorites
(homes that is)...

...when I came to this meticulous yellow house.  There I stood - taking a photo -
when in from the yard sales and up the walk came the owners!
Ahh - I was caught!  But talk about gracious...
...the owner asked me if I'd like to tour the porch and
back garden - of his, get this, Sears & Roebuck house.
Ummm - (let me think)......Yes, Please!!!!
We're talking real life here folks - nothing staged for a garden tour.
And look how beautiful!  This was all the handiwork of the owner.
Loved the elephant ears in containers...
(why didn't I think of that instead of forgetting to dig mine up and now their gone...)
He found an old stove and keeps it on the patio as a
food and drink station for guests.
And the little light near the top of the stove?
He has it wired to a timer to come on in the evening for added ambiance!!
How clever is that?
Check out his purple bathtub herb garden (he loves to cook too)...

That kitty was SO sweet - was actually the neighbor's & just visiting!
...and the outhouse he built (yep - he built!) to store firewood.
The little picket fence is only a small section of much more used around the garden.  He got a whole bunch of pickets at an auction for a mere $7!
(several states away too - he's dedicated to his craft!)
In addition to several existing out buildings - he's building another shed.
Love the cross shaped brick path he's working on.
Well - actually - I loved it all!  Thank you neighbor!
The secret to all this beauty?  He waters his plants and flowers every day!
Ev -er-y day!!!
(And gives the ferns a little Miracle Grow once in a while.)
Guess I know what I need to do from now on.

I think I'll show you some of my great finds another day.

Freezing Green Peppers....

I picked a few green peppers today and decided to quick freeze some.
It is super easy to do and trust me - takes almost no 'hands-on' time.

Step 1 - Clean and chop the peppers.
Step 2.  Individually quick freeze them by laying
the chopped pieces flat on a pan...
...and placing in the freezer for a few hours.
Be sure it is just a single layer of peppers.
Step 3.  Scrape them off the pan with a metal spatula
 and bag them up loosely.

Because they are IQF - it will be a breeze to get
the amount you need out for recipes.  They won't stick together!
Of course - I had to keep one pepper aside to enjoy for lunch.
Does anyone else like peppers and cream cheese?  Yum!!

Old Brooms...

Oh the stuff you can find at yard sales.  Stuff you didn't even
know you needed until....'there it is'.
Found me a couple of old brooms the other week.... 25 cents each!
Did I need old brooms?
Yes I did!  'Cause I have nothing to sweep away
outdoor messes that I make when I do stuff such as
replanting my spring plantings that whithered up in the heat.
Geraniums are about $1 right now at my local Walmart.
Should see me through the rest of the summer!
I'm glad someone saw fit to get rid of their old brooms.
