Project Day...

A day off of work with no real plans for a picnic,
etc... so what to do?  Projects of course!
Here's one I finished up from a $1 find...
No 'before' shot - but it was a very blond wood -
 modern style 50's bench.
Gave it a coat of mint green paint (cause I had some
on hand that I wanted to use up...) and then some
creamy white.  Did a bit of sanding to let that
green show through...
...and added some sheet music to the top (cause I have
some of that to use up too).  Just really liked the graphics of
this Hebrew folk song and the coloring worked.
Last was a coat of poly to keep it looking good.
Hope someone out there will appreciate this nod
to my Jewish friends.

Vignette of Brushes...

My dress rack displays at the thrift shop today were inspired by a bunch of vintage brushes I found out on the store shelves.  (I create displays out of whatever is already out in the shop and priced to sell.)  I included most of the brushes in this more primitive and country display...
(I find some great bags among the totes for sale that would otherwise
go 'unnoticed'.  But they sell in a heartbeat when I feature them in a display.)
...and then I tried to incorporate some into my shabby white displays.
Till I got around to shooting
a photo - there were already goods that had
sold and I was out of time to replace them.
I love whites paired with neutral textures...

Hat Stand Project...

I love repurposing ideas.
This idea is not original with me (they rarely are). But who knows where I saw it.
These wooden paper towel holders are easy
to come by.  Mine was 50 cents (half off).
I sawed off the outer stick...
...gave it a coat of primer...
Yes, those are 'just baked' cookies on the same table.
...and a couple of coats of paint.  I decided no distressing or fancy work on this project.
A plain hat stand keeps the hat the focus.
Simple enough - and to 'top it off' -
thrifty too! (I think I'm funny.)

Pretty Silver Basket...

I just had to show you this pretty basket I found
this week.  I love it with the ceramic robin's
eggs and white paper 'straw'...

It's a nice change from the traditional Easter basket!

Sweet Enamel Teapot...

I have a great sis-in-law.  She's a 'giver'.
She's in the process of 'cleaning out' (again!)
and offered some goodies to those who wanted.
I was the lucky recipient of this adorable
enamelware teapot...
Goes great with my other enamelware.

Just look at all that shabby white goodness.
Thank you friend!

A Friend's Kitchen Details...

I was invited to a friend's house for tea today.
(How blessed am I?)  Her home is so lovely -
very European French Country.  Today -
for  White Wednesday - let's take a peek
at her kitchen...
Where do you find shelf brackets like that?
I've been looking for years...
Silver tea caddy does hold tea!

And did I mention - they built their home
and did most everything themselves?
Took them many years - but it's a charmer...
She has poinsettias everywhere -
and they're wonderful!
 No silverware drawer - everything's
out and easily accessible...
A pot rack to truly be envious of...
An extra hutch for 'pretty' dishes...
A peek inside the chicken wire cupboard
you see below...
Yep - all this deliousness is truly in her small
kitchen.  Including an extra sink for food prep.
And the green bowl?  Filled with mixed nuts
for the Christmas season of course...
This vintage stove has been converted
for modern use...
The kitchen even houses this 'extra heat source'
wood stove.  See those big copper cans?
They holding kindling to start the fire...

Are you in love yet?  Come back tomorrow and the next day - there's more!

Vintage Camper Tree Store...

Had to take a picture of this vintage camper that is
being used as an office for a Christmas tree sales lot.
Isn't it cute?
Too bad I wasn't driving by at night when it is all lit up
(there are lights all over it)...

Homemade Soap for Gifts...

I wish I could tell you that I learned to make soap and
that the soap I'm about to show you was made by me.
But the truth is - I watched/helped a friend make soap
so I could learn - and I'm still not sure I could do it.
But here's my portion of the batch - all wrapped up
for gift giving and more...
A little vintage sheet music, some red ric rac, a few old
white buttons and my glue gun - they work for me.

Seashell Ships...

Wish I had better photos of these - but wanted to share them for White Wednesday #108.  There are lots of seashell projects out there.  But these are the first ships I have had.  Aren't they sweet?
And just to round out this post - here's a pretty conch seashell that I have listed right now on Etsy.
I think the back is as pretty as the front!

The ships are for sale too - just email if you'd like one.
($10 ea. plus s/h.)
It's like beach combing from your computer!
